Edward Arthur Patterson Lake in Stark County, North Dakota

This lake has 8 Layers or 15 Layers for HD Version

Edward Arthur Patterson Lake is an 819-acre reservoir on the Heart River in Stark County, North Dakota, formed by Dickinson Dam — completed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1950 and expanded in 1981 — and reaching a maximum depth of 27 feet across 26 miles of shoreline. Originally known as Dickinson Reservoir and renamed in 1959 to honor a prominent local civic leader, the lake holds excellent populations of Walleye, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Black and White Crappie, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Bullheads. The Crooked Crane Trail winds through seven trailheads around the lake, offering hikers sweeping views of the Heart River badlands landscape.

Located just one and a half miles west of Dickinson — the largest city in western North Dakota — Patterson Lake serves as both a vital municipal water supply and the region's premier outdoor recreation destination. The Patterson Lake Recreation Area, managed by Dickinson Parks & Recreation, offers camping, boating, swimming, and ice fishing across its expansive grounds. The surrounding Stark County landscape of rolling prairie, river breaks, and North Dakota badlands gives the lake a rugged, wide-open character unique to the northern Great Plains.

A laser-cut wooden map of Edward Arthur Patterson Lake makes a bold and distinctive piece of wall art for any western North Dakota home, Dickinson-area cabin, or Great Plains outdoors enthusiast's space. The natural wood top layer traces every curve of this Heart River reservoir's 26 miles of prairie shoreline in fine detail, while the light-to-dark blue gradient layers capture the lake's broad, flatwater character. A handcrafted gift perfectly suited for Dickinson locals, Patterson Lake regulars, and anyone with deep ties to this beloved corner of western North Dakota.

The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.
